On a lot of keyboards, especially laptop ones, your function keys will often double as special laptop-specific keys. If you look at the keys you will see the usual F1, F2, etc, but also on those keys will be little icons for things like volume up and down, screen dim/brighten, etc.
As mentioned above, in the 10v bios settings you have an setting to decide on the primary settings for the F-keys, multimedia or function. Whichever you choose, the other can be accessed via holding the FN key (bottom left of keyboard) and pressing the F-key in question.
However if your dsdt file has not been generated then you might have problems like I have had, and the bios settings get wiped every boot (which meant I had go to into the bios and switch Legacy USB and the Wake options each I restarted).
If you are having problems like this, have a look at the sticky about generating a dsdt file, and hopefully it'll help you out.
Personally I keep the multimedia keys as main. I like having the volume and brightness controls right there, shrug.
Anyway, good luck to ya.
