Default OS X Dock - not so smooth - 11-11-2009, 08:11 PM

I have 10.6.1 on my 10v, I noticed the dock is not as smooth as my MacBook Pro (now that makes a lot of sense seeing as my MBP has really good graphics card), but then I boot up my Mini (which also runs the same graphics card as my 10v and it's silky smooth.

Does anyone else notice this? Any way to improve it?

I have no problems with my dock auto-hiding or running smoothly... did you run NBI properly? Sounds like something with your graphics is not working right (obviously).

Well, my Mini10v's dock isn't as smooth as that on my MBPro or my MacPro. I'm guessing that bus speed could have something to do with it... slower generally means less responsive.

One could check this by comparing graphics performance scores w/ something like XBench.

Also, how much RAM do you have in?

If it's quite slow and stuttering, it may be that NBI didn't get graphic acceleration going - might be worth running it again (not in safe mode, since that's an .8.3 bug) to see if it helps. Mine's not quite as snappy as my MBP, but I would call it relatively smooth.
