Exclamation No Sound Dell Mini 10v BIOS A05 Snow Leopard 10.6.1 NBI 0.8.3 RC3 - 10-28-2009, 08:41 PM

OK got my Dell Mini 10v with 10.6.1 installed, all works but sound
No sound on startup (boot) as well, In System Preferences there is nothing to select under sound, "No output
devices found" and Headphones and Mic jacks do not work as well when plugging in a headset/mic.

Any ideas? patches? workarounds?

Thanks in advance,
--Phill

If reinstalling NBI does not enable your sound, then most likely whoever upgraded your ram forgot to plug the speaker cable back in.

Pop the keyboard and then undo the palm rest and check for any loose wires!

Default Incomplete Kext cache generation in safe mode - 11-05-2009, 03:14 PM

There's a bug with NBI where kextcache thinks the extensions aren't valid when in safe mode.

FYI-all you have to do to restore sound after a software update is go to finder, search for extras then update extras. Reinstalling is the windows way to do things. There's no need with Unix based OS's.

I have exactly the same problem after upgrading to 10.6.2. Now call me Mr Stupid, but I have no idea where to find this 'extras' folder - can anyone help out a fool here?
Thanks
