Default Upgrading to OSX10.6.1 - 10-26-2009, 12:59 AM

I have a Mini 10v running SL, with the A04 BIOS. I'm not sure if I should have USB legacy enabled or not, can someone tell me that, please?

This evening I'm planning to run the OSX updater, and download 10.6.1. From what I've read here, I should just install the update, then run NBI (I think I have 8.3).

I'm also interested in ditching the "hibernation" screen - so I should run registry and type in sudo pmset hibernatemode 0

Reboot then..

sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage (as per here: Accelerate Your Mac News Archive for Friday July 24, 2009)

If I do the above exactly, will the update etc work, or am I going to end up bricking my Mini?

ETA: is there anything I can do about the short battery runtime? I have the 3 cell, and I don't think it's lasting 2 1/2 hours with websurfing, if that. No Youtube or anything.

So far so good - I've updated the OS and run NBI, no problems. On to the registry (or whatever it's called in OSX).

Well, I managed the first thing (sudo pmset hibernatemode 0) after finding "terminal". It was pretty spooky, since I couldn't seem to type in the box... but I think it worked. Onward to the next part.

Terminal couldn't find the file /var/vm/sleepimage, so I guess NBI took care of that.

Now to figure out how to speed up this machine's boot time in OSX

Newbie question here. I want to update my 10v OSX SL install to 10.6.1 and also from NBI 8.2 to 8.3. Is this as simple as downloading the update from Apple, updating, then restarting, running NBI 8.3 in OSX and restarting again?

I've done a lot of searching but have only succeeded in confusing myself more.
