Thumbs up Pinwheel during OS X Install - 10-16-2009, 07:59 PM

I am attempting to install OSX on a Dell 10v and unable to get to the OSX installation prompt.

1- Using an external cd with Netbookcd to boot- No Problem!
2- NCD menu displays and insert OS X CD
3- select Install CD.
4- Reads the CD Media and displays the PINWHEEL on the top left corner of the screen.

5 - Nothing else happens!!! Don't even get the install options.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was having this same problem with my 10.5.1 Leopard DVD. There was a couple scuffs on it, nothing I thought would be the issue but I ended up buying Snow Leopard and it installed. The weird thing was my Leopard disk would load in my Mac but not on my external DVD.

If you have access to another DVD drive you can try, I would do that. If you search around, you'll find that OS X DVD's seem to be finnicky about what drives they'll work on. I ran into a similar issue when I was trying to recreate a working OS X install key. I ended up using the old DellEFI method to get a working 10.5.6 install (didn't care so much about booting it though) just to create a key using Netbook Bootmaker.

Good luck!

I tried the Dellmini boot but when I inserted the OSX CD or USB. Keep asking me to reboot.. I am stuck at this point .

Is there a way to force the install without rebooting
