Anyone have any hints to completing this? I've spent the whole day trying to make this method work, as all I have access to is a usb drive, an external usb harddrive, and my PC, and the installation always fails at 1/3rd of the bar. A look at the log shows the install failing when the installer tried to retrive the essentials.pckg (I'm going from memory here, but it seems to go through a bunch of other packages with no problem, such as quicktime, itunes, and safari).
Restarting and using the -f option still leads to a failed installation. At this point, I'm thinking my problem might lie with the disc image I'm using. Or perhaps the virtual machine I've been using.
The disc image I've been using was made in transmac, and then copied over to my leopard virtual machine. Any attempts to use disc utilities to restore the snow leopard retail dvd from inside the virtual always fail with a "disc verifying operation failed - the operation has timed out" message. At this point, I'm wondering whether the fault lies in creating the image in transmac or if I'm missing a simple option somewhere. I've made a few different disc images in transmac as well, to ensure that I wasn't using a corrupt one.
Someone help me?
