Thanks, wolfkeeper. I saw that earlier in the thread, but was wondering if the space before the first "/" was a typo... and was scared to try it.

Now I see that 'rm' is the command "remove". The things one learns everyday!

thats what i did on 10.6.2 / vostroA90:

1) turned the 2 usb/legacy? settings off in bios
2) disabled "secure virtual memory" in system preferences -> security
3) terminal:
sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
4) reboot

= working sleep, no sleep image, no "hibernate ... too old" message

btw: because of this wonderfull forum and meklorts idiot-proof guide i now have a 100% working hackintosh netbook! thanks!

Hi all-
I just took my Dell Mini10v from Ubuntu to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and thought it might help to give a bit of a blow by blow about the only issue I had:
1. I got the latest release of (NetBook Maker) NBM 0.8.3 and put that on a WD USB HD.
2. Put the SL install on there as well (as per the instructions on the Wonderful Guide - as stated in the post above, wouldn't have even THOUGHT about this if not for the clear instructions provided - THANKS! - for NBM).
3. I installed using the HD as a boot to my Mini, and it worked flawlessly - got right through to the Mac install, and everything worked fine.
4. Upgraded to SL 10.6.2 using Apple software update - and then restarted and had two issues people are talking about - 1. no audio (and no device to be found in Preferences) and 2. a "hibernation timer" alert on startup.
5. I then booted into OS X (a "normal startup" of the Mac OS) and noticed the two errors still present. I then went to Applications>Utilities> and found the NetBook Installer program and ran it. It gave me the choice to "disallow" hibernation, and so I checked that. I then restarted my Mini.
6. On restart, I had sound and did not get the Hibernation message - and everything else looks to be working - a better touch pad response, and great sound coming out on videos (as long as you don't try HD...).

I'm a happy, portable Mini toting Mac user now!

I tried to do what mst0129 did but when I get to 2) disabled "secure virtual memory" in system preferences -> security, the option to uncheck secure virtual memory was greyed out so I could not change it.

What do I need to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like you may need to click the unlock button on the lower left of the pref pane then enter your password so that you can change that setting. If it still does not let you, then you probably don't have admin rights.

I am having the same issue 10v, NBI 0.8.3.
I want to go up to 10.6.2, currently I'm running 10.6.1
But not sure if it will break everything.
