I am also having this same issue. Several of you assumed that rietemah ran the 10.6.2 update, he never said that. All I know is on my Mini 9 when I first built it I used RC3 and installed 10.6.0 then 10.6.2 right after. I then decided to install a standard OS X update and am now in the same boat with teh "Hibernate Image file is too old b XXX seconds..." I put the RC Final onto my USB drive and tried updating the Mini with it. So far it is not working.

How have some of you gotten to a Terminal window when you can't get past this error and into OS X?

I have a MBP which I used to add RC Final to my USB key.

If someone has an explanation of what to do I would really appreciate it. I would prefer not to have to wipe and reimage.

Thanks and Happy New Year everyone.

Larry

Hello,

My Mini 10v had been running 10.6.0 just perfectly using NBM8.3 RC5. I upgraded to 10.6.2 via Software Update, and now I've lost my audio. I'm trying to re-install 10.6.0 (with RC5), but I keep getting the "Hibernate Image file too old by XXX seconds" error message, and the installer does not start.

I'd appreciate any solutions/ideas/suggestions you all may have to offer.

Thanks!

After you update SL, you have to reinstall NBI to get verything work. Here is the link to the final version : NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 Final (Official Release)
1. Install NBI
2. Install Update then restart
3. Install NBI then restart

If you've got access to a working Mac just update your OS X install disc with NBM 0.8.3 RC4 and then just run NBI from the utilities menu of the installer. You don't need to reinstall the OS. You just need to reinstall the latest version of Chameleon and the extensions that NBI installs for you to make 10.6.2 run.

so, i updated my software on my mini 10v like a dummy without thinking of the likely repercussions. apparently, my mini has been stuck in the reboot loop for the last 30 minutes or so.

i downloaded the latest NBM and NBI onto my SL flash drive, and i attempted to run NBI from the utilities menu of the installer, but it only recognizes the NBI that was originally installed, and doesn't give me the option to launch the new one.

how do i tell my mini to use the recently downloaded NBI in order to fix this thing?

thanks!

Not sure this will work, but its easy to try. Run terminal from the same utilities menu you used to get NBI. Navigate to the directory you put the new version of NBI. You could copy it to the root directory of your NBM USB drive for example. Then use "open ./NetBookInstaller" to run the program.

Tips for OS X SSD Users on Disabling Hibernate mode/deleting sleepimage file (and recap on disabling SMS, LidWake)...

Using terminal, enter: sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 (FYI: the -a parameter doesn't seem to be required based on tests w/o it using both battery and AC modes)
Voila. Now simply reboot.
Last week I re-installed OSX (up to 10.6.2), and the "Hibernate image file too old, etc" message is appearing again.

First I ran NBI (8.3 final) with hibernate on, reboot, then with hibernate off, reboot - still get the "Hibernate image file too old, etc" message

Then I ran terminal and did the above, and I still have the message.

Any ideas what I need to do differently? I had done something to eliminate the message before, but after the re-install it's back.

When I got that error I not only ran that command in terminal, but also deleted the file (sleepimage) mentioned to fix it permanently. Have not had it return.

How interesting this is.

On a whim I ran NBI 8.3 final one more time, and now the heinous message is gone!

What an adventure this mini 10v is...
