Sorry...in my post I put RC2...I actually have RC3, having just done this install. I will look at it and make sure that option is checked. How do you enter terminal?

Hello mechdrew, Hello everybody!

Unfortunately, the RC3 does not fix the issue of removing the sleepfile.
I still get the message "hibernate image file too old..."

And under this line I get the message: efi_inject_get_devprop_string NULL trying stringdata

Or read post #1 in the new NBI RC thread.
Do you not see my signature? I've been using 8.3RC3 since the day it came out. It doesn't remove the sleep file, and apparently I'm not the only one.

Well, do you not see mine, I have been running since it came out, and do not have this issue at all.

Maybe it is your install.

I'm thinking there might be an issue with NBI not fully installing (just speculation on my part). There was another thread where this individual had no sound after 8.3RC3 so he manually replaced the verbhelper.kext file and ran update extra.app. That fixed it for him.

Are you booting into safe mode and running it or just a normal log in and run from desktop?

I used the modified /boot file posted elsewhere in this forum to actually make hibernate work. I've used if for at least 5 hibernates over the last 2 days and it came back and was stable each time.

However I can confirm that when I upgraded with RC3 and chose to disable hibernate (didn't have the new /boot done yet) that the /var/vm/sleepfile was not removed. RC3 did at least properly set no hibernate which RC2 failed to do.

Are you going to try it again?

If it works, I think I'll try it out too.

Folks.....

Just bring up terminal (unix command line program) and type the following:

sudo rm /var/vm/sleepfile
Then hit 'Enter' to execute.

This will prompt for your OSX password. Once you provide it, it will delete the file.

Check your drive available drive space before and after.
If the file is not there, it will tell you 'File not found'.

If you don't turn off the hibernate feature using NBI, and you do go and hibernate/sleep it will recreate the file again.

I reran NBI 8.3RC3 just for kicks. Disable hibernation and remove sleep file was definitely checked. Still got the "image is too old by "x" seconds" after a quick test of sleep and sound.

I ran the terminal command and got:

"No such file or directory", and I'm still getting the "image is too old by "x" seconds" on startup.

So what do you think gives? Are there separate sleep and hibernation images?

Perhaps I wasn't too clear. Using the /boot file from that other thread works seemingly correctly, with a caveat, you have to delete the /var/vm/sleepfile that's there. (And turn off the security setting that says to use secure virtual memory as per the thread on how to use /boot). If you can't find the thread I'll go looking and post the link but I'd have to search too
