Default Sound after sleep woes - 09-27-2009, 02:30 AM

Mini 10v running 10.5.7 w/BIOS AO5 with Dell EFI for 10v. Everything works well except for no sound from internal speakers after sleep. I read through all the threads and installed Verbhelper.kext using the Kext helper app. It said it was installed properly so I then repaired permissions and rebooted. Still no internal audio after sleep. I thought that Verbhelper.kext was supposed to be the fix for this and nothing else was needed.

So now what? Do I go through the sleepwatcher fix? I would rather not but if it's the only way I will try it. If so do I have to uninstall the Verbhelper.kext and if so how do I do it? Can I just delete the kext file and that's it? I'll be very happy to get this working as this will give me a perfect install. Thanks for any help and input on this. Appreciate everything this forum has done.

Here's the answer for anyone else with this problem. This was from Shine On, who provided this very simple solution for me:

I just put Verbhelper.kext in /Extra and ran update extra. Kext helper inst necessary for any kext additions done on the minis and there's less risk of complications using the /Extra directory.

I did uninstall sleepwatcher after I installed Verbhelper.kext, but I ended up reinstalling because sound would work about 90% of the time after sleep, but still would, on occasion, disappear after sleep.
