Default SL Install on 10v without a MAC - Possible? - 09-27-2009, 02:24 AM

Hi All,

I don't have access to a MAC to work with Netbootmaker/installer. Can I install Snow Leopard to my 10v without utilizing a MAC?

What I have is the following:

Mini 10v
Bios a04 (downgraded from 06)
Retail copy of Snow Leopard dvd
2 x 8GB USB flash sticks
LG Brand external USB DVD/RW drive (boots as well)

Almost everything I see if Leopard install via DVD/USB or Snoe Leopard install that requires me to have a mac.

Any directions for me?

Thanks...

Dan

It's not possible to install snow leopard without a mac currently. The only avenue you can take is to install leopard, use netbook bootmaker to set up your usb, and then install snow leopard.

I'd just take the the usb drive, dvd and netbook bootmaker to an apple store and do it there. Just surf the net while its restoring the dvd and if you get caught tell them you have an old 10.5 macbook which is out of apple care with a broken dvd drive that you want to install snow leopard on.

Thanks for the info. I had a G3 Imac with 10.4.x on it that I was going to try but apparently SL only supports Intel processors. Oh well...

Cheers

If you only have access to a PC.
Either do what moocat suggested or try TransMac. It lets you read/write Mac format on a PC.
