Red face Backing up a Clean Copy of OS X - 09-26-2009, 06:47 PM

I know this has been asked before but I am trying to backup a clean image of my installation. When I try to use Advanced 1: Backup and Restore Installations by mechdrew I get a message saying it can't create the new image. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another way to create a clean image of the Hard Drive? Thanks for your input.

Did you boot from the Install USB Disk, or tried it within your running OS X?
Where did you try to save the image?

I booted from my USB Stick with the Snow Leopard Installer, then plugged in a USB Harddisk to another USB- Port to save the image on.

Press cmd+alt+t the activate the toolbar.
Now choose your OS X partition, press new image in the Toolbar and choose the right place to save the image.

True, when creating clones it is best to boot from a secondary drive (not the drive you are planning to clone).
