Default External Projector issue - 09-23-2009, 06:04 PM

Okay, i have read the various threads on this subject and it seems I might be out of luck. I was in class yesterday and tried to use my 10v (A06) with snow leopard with the class projector, an Epson I believe.

No go, a total system freeze. I am using Netbook Installer 0.8.3. When I installed the older GMA driver it worked! However, the keynote presentation would not run. It said not enough VRAM.

Now I was running with spaces enabled. Could that be an issue? Any thoughts would be very helpful. The whole reason i have this machine is to use it in this manner. My old Lenovo S10 running leopard worked just fine so I thought the Dell would be fine. Could it be a SL issue, should I go to Leopard? Really there are just too many variables!

Thanks for the help!

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm in exactly the same situation and having the same issue. Thanks?

I mean, I guess you could try disabling spaces.

From what I've been reading, though, this might be yet another instance of instability with BIOS A06. I would try downgrading if I were you. There are instructions around, but I think most assume you have a Windows computer (or, at the very least, a machine running Windows through VMWare).

Default Found a solution! - 12-02-2009, 10:36 PM

I'm actually Bios A04. I actually figured out a way to make it work. On the secondary monitor (LCD projector) I lowered the refresh rate to 60 mhz. That seems to have fixed the problem. Now I have a perfect two monitor system, one which shows the slides and the other which is the presenter view. Awesome.

Ah, yes. I've seen that problem on LEGITIMATE macs, too. Woman came to give a talk using a Macbook Air, and it had the hardest time working with the projector until she lowered the sync rate. Basically, the laptop didn't have enough power to drive the projector at that rate (a REALLY LONG VGA cable was thought to be responsible as well).
