Here's what I just noticed. The LED never goes into blink mode. From what I can gather, the 10v stays on because after a few hours, it's still warm. Obviously, only the monitor goes off, and won't come back on.

It also dawns on me that I put a Kingston 64gb SSD in this 10v a couple of weeks ago, and that could be causing some of this behavior. Any previous reports of that?
I had the same issue. Same config. I even reinstalled 10.5 from scratch using NBI 0.8.2 after upgrading to 10.5.8 with a archive and install system folder. No dice. Formatted and started from scratch, I even used software update to get 10.5.8 with NBI 0.8.2 and everything works perfectly. Did have an issue with Quartz Extreme, resinstalled drivers from DellEFI 1.25a and then re-ran NBI 0.8.2 and now I'm 100% working on 10.5.8.

I guess that's the solution...backup and reinstall the whole shooting match? Rats. Well, I gotta do what I gotta do. Thanks, all.

Unhappy New finding on this... - 09-26-2009, 04:05 AM

Okay, I wiped the disk and did a fresh reinstall of OSX 10.5.8 into this 10v (using Netbook Installer 0.8.2) after backing up all my stuff. The sleep mode worked perfectly with the basic install and the default user account I created with the install (I called it "admin").

Then I restored my previous user account from a backup, and sadly I seem to have restored the old symptoms: Screen goes black, but computer doesn't sleep - the LED stays on and the keyboard remains warm. Once again, I need to do a cold reboot.

What's worse, when I log into the "admin" account, it now also has the same problem.

So I've ruled out something in the hardware with the fresh install, and there's something futzing up sleep in my software. I just have no idea what it could be.

PLEASE...any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default SUCCESS! (So far) - 09-26-2009, 06:33 PM

I did one more reinstall with NetbookInstaller 0.8.2. (I should mention to newcomers to this thread my install uses 10.5.6 from a retail disk.)

This time after the first reboot (not safe mode) I ran Software Update instead of using the 10.5.8 Combo Update file I keep on my install USB stick.

THEN I booted into Safe Mode and ran NetbookInstaller, checking Chameleon Bootloader, 10v Extensions, Create dsdt file and Enable Remote CD (no real reason, it was checked anyway). Reboot.

Now here's what I think is the key move. When I migrated my user account from the backup drive, I kept Applications checked, but unchecked the Files and Folders from my backup drive's top level.

For good measure after the migration completed, I ran NetbookInstaller one more time before I rebooted.

I rebooted into my migrated account, all apps were restored (including all Mail accounts and settings) and sleep is now working exactly as it should - with audio when i take it out of sleep.

What a learning process. But hell...at least I learned. I am curious as to what was causing the problems, but for now I won't lose sleep over it.

Do you have a USB mouse, or wireless mouse? Do you have an external monitor?

I find that if anything is connected to the computer when it goes to sleep it will freeze.

I just signed up so Noobie alert

I have the same problem. Running 10.6.1 that I installed with 0.8.2 and later updated with 0.8.3. Sleep works like a charm unless I have my USB mouse connected when it goes to sleep. Then, although the monitor is out the light doesn't pulse and it stays warm.
