Start again?

1] What gear have you got?
a] Dell mini 10v (obviously)
b] USB stick
c] OSX retail disk
d] ???

2] Try booting with the -v (verbose) flag (when you see the bootloader apple logo, press a key, then type "-v" which will show in the bottom left corner). What does OSX say right before it hangs?

3] Can you follow rydemia's guide here instead: Fool Proof No Hassle Mini 10v Install EVERYTHING WORKS!! ?

4] Don't give up. It wasn't a smooth process for me either, but the result and consequent self-satisfaction make it all worth while. It IS doable, so try to enjoy the journey. The destination is sweet!

I'm having the exact same problem as ABlax76. I tried to install using rydemia's guide and it would stall at the apple logo. My mini 10v shipped with BIOS A06, so I downgraded to BIOS A04, tried again and it stalls at the same place.

Here is some background:
Main computer: iMac 24, 2.8, running SL (10.6)
OSDVD: Leopard retail install DVD, vers. 10.5.6
USB Stick: 16 GB adata, using netbookbootmaker 0.8.2 RC4
Netbook: Mini 10v, BIOS A04, USB Wake On, USB Legacy On, Bluetooth Off

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but during the netbookbootmaker process, it asked me to input my password about 3-4 times. Also, when my mini10v is booting up, i no longer get the dell logo. I can still access the BIOS and StartUp disc selection, though.

I've read that sometimes it may be a problem with the usb stick, so i'm going to get another one today, and start over. But I'd be very appreciative of any other advice/troubleshooting tips.

This is a great forum, I've learned tons here. Here's hoping I can get this 'hackbook' up and running!!!

Thanks!

If you are trying to prepare the 10.5.6 boot drive on Snow Leopard, it wont work.

I'll be releasing a new version sometime next week (probably tuesday) that will fix this issue.

aha! I was wondering if that may be one of the issues...thanks for the fast response!

So, to get the boot drive to work, the source machine needs to be running Leopard, or will Tiger work too?

Thanks again!

Tiger works fine. It'll also work fine if you are using a 10.5.0, 10.5.1 or 10.5.4 dvd on SL

ok... so the only difference between me and tnfdude is that i am using a Macbook 13" as my mac! I am currently running Snow leopard on it... Could this be affecting my success at hackintoshing my 10v?
