There are two different drivers: the one you have allows for scrolling on the edge of the pad, but doesn't allow you to use two or more fingers, hence why you are having the jumpiness; it's trying to guess where your finger is by reading both of them and then averaging.

The other driver is the old trackpad driver, which doesn't allow for any fancy scrolling and such but does allow you to press a key with one finger and drag with the other without jumping. I can't recommend a way to install this one since the driver is included with some other outdated drivers in old DellEFI releases.

What's the best way to enable touch click? I don't see the setting for it, but when my brother in law imported his profile from his macbook air, it works A LOT better than the click button on the touchpad.
