Thanks for your comments!
Just out of interest, were you attempting to install from an external hard drive? I am wondering whether the A06 BIOS doesn't like external hard drives for installing OS X...

More feedback: I used your process to upgrade two Mini9 computers from A04 to A05. Worked perfectly !

MANY THANKS FOR THIS WRITTEN PROCESS

My 10v has not yet arrived, but I am delighted to see that other members have successfully used the process to get the 10v from A06 to A04.

"If it isn't broken, why fix it?"

Are there any advantages of restoring the A06 BIOS?
I am confused on one issue:

Is it necessary to downgrade 10v BIOS from A06 to A04 in order to install
Leopard or Snow Leopard or EITHER ?

Hi there,
Sometimes (by luck?) the OS X install DOES work with the A06 BIOS.
My 10v kept freezing & having kernel panics when I attempted the install, no matter what method I tried.

It won't hurt to try installing OS X with the A06 BIOS - if it freezes or has a kernel panic (depending on what method you use), then you will need to downgrade the BIOS.

Hope this helps the confusion!

Wondering if anyone has had experience with BIOS A07, which came installed on my new 10v.
First straightforward SL install repeatedly froze, so tried to downgrade to A04 using this thread.
It looked like it was going OK, but offered an 'incompatible version number' message in the end. Alternative BIOS update kit? Any ideas gratefully received...

Try the method described in this thread.

How to setup Snow Leopard on mini 10v with A06 BIOS

It has been reported to work with A06 and does not require downgrading to A04.

Seems like bad news for the time being from the world of A07 BIOS. Have tried straight SL install, BIOS downgrade and direct to disk install which reportedly worked for A06. Here I get a crude "stop" type graphic appearing above the apple after a minute or so, then nothing more. Safe boot yields the same. <theory> A07 is an attempted hackintosh killer? </theory> Anyway, guess that means the game's afoot - admittedly for players more accomplished than me... Any ideas welcome: the light of my life to whom this was promised is showing signs of skepticism!
