Yeah, you're correct. However I am pretty sure the eeePC uses an Elantech as well so there are quite a few people wanting/looking into an OS X driver for this pad (as far as I can see after a bit of a search on Google). I think Meklort has already bought an Elantech pad off eBay and has started looking into it so hopefully he might be able to pull something out of the bag

For the moment I am still more than happy at the switch. The new pad just feels a lot smoother and responsive than the old one. And if it comes to it, I can always switch back...

Is it still on track for a release before the w/e? No pressure Meklort... take your time and all... Better right than right now. Etc.

I'm holding off my SL upgrade until this is sorted though, so I'm a bit keen.
You are absolutely right Better right than right now (live by the sword, die by the sword... etc etc)

I know that meklort has made some great progress on the 10v touchpad driver and I have used the latest prototypes with satisfaction. There are still some minor details and quirks that meklort wants to work out before releasing to public, AFAIK. As soon as he thinks it is suitable and he is happy with it he will release it.

He will probably post something on his blog or there will be a post on MDM

As far as upgrading to Snow Leopard goes... no need to hold off. You can get SL installed and once the new trackpad driver is released it is a simple upgrade.

The new touchpad is AMAZING!!!! Much, much, much, much better than the original. Why the hell didn't they use this pad in the first place??? I definitely recommend this to anyone that is thinking about it. In OS X two finger scrolling, three finger right click and CTRL - Pinch to zoom is pretty good too Just remember to adjust down the sensitivity in the MOUSE pref pane as it thinks its a mouse for some reason.
i got two finger and three finger to work. but im trying to figure out how to pinch to zoom. can you point out where is the settings. i checked in trackpad and its not there. also checked in mouse and its not there.

He already said that it is 'Ctrl + 2 Finger' to zoom

Yeah, my bad, it is 'CTRL+2 Finger Scroll' to zoom

Pinch to zoom wont work without a new driver.

This thread sort of petered out with many unanswered questions. Did the improved drivers ever materialize? Did they make the 1010 touchpad swap unecessary?

I'm curious because I notice that Mini 10/1010 touch pads are common now on eBay, for only $10-20, which makes the conversion much more interesting for those of us who were too cheap to do it before.

I swapped mine out.

It is a negligible improvement IMO.

Still prefer the feel of my mini 9's trackpad. Even with a mini 10 swap the trackpad is jittery and awkward.
