Couple of quick questons if anyone has a minute to fire some replies...

Is a 1018 with a Dell 6 cel battery flush at the bottom
or does it stick out like the some of the previous models?

What size of SSD is needed to replace the HD,
a standard 2.5" notebook or smaller 1.8" version?

Any differences in running OSX on a 1018 from a 10v (1011) , graphics , etc?

Considering ordering one as its the only fanless netbook?

1. The 6 cell battery is flush on the 1018 and the 1012

2. A standard 2.5" SSD is fine the only one that takes the Mini PCI-e SSD is the discontinued Mini 9

3. The 1018 and OSX do not work as well as the 10v (1011) and I am not even sure if anyone has even gotten it to work successfully yet

BTW: the 1012 is the same but it has 1 more USB (2 vs. 3) and a mic jack that the 1018 doesnt have and both are fanless..the 1018 uses DDR3 memory while the 1012 uses the DDR2 memory, the 1012 has the N450 processor and the 1018 has the N455 Processor, both run at 1.6ghz, and both have the GMA3150 graphics

And also the battery sticking out at the bottom is actually something I like on my 1010 ...for 1 it puts the keyboard at a better angle for typing and for 2 it also lifts the netbook up higher to give it better cooling being as where there are no fans

I don't think the 1012 is still for sale in Canada, can't see it on Dell's site here.

I kinda like the all black 1018 in any case.

good luck to ya, but just keep in mind that Dell came out with the 1018 as a cheaper alternative to the 1012 which is why the scaled back on the functions/features of the 1018....its just a cheaper build/version of the 1012
