i just bought dell mini 1018. i tried to upgrade 2 gb ram. i bought Kingston KVR1333D3S9/2G PC1333 2GB. i installed it but it did not start. i got black screen. i installed the original ram back it worked. i read threads in here about upgrading to 2 gb ram. i did not success. can you tell me how i will upgrade to 2 gb ram?

That RAM should have worked. It might be defective. Try it again and make sure it is seated properly in the socket.

i am sure placed ram properly. i tried 3 times. maybe it is defective. i will return it back to seller tomorrow and i wil get a new one.

are you sure i can place this memory? i tought maybe we can place specific memories to dell mini 1018.

That memory meets the requirements of the 1018.

Try a different brand of RAM is what I would suggest. See what other 1018 users are using.

i upgraded mine with crucial memory, worked perfectly.

Me too I tried 3 different modules from 2 different brands and none worked.

Then I ordered Crucial's module and it did work.

Shame on DELL.

If it works, it works. But this module is DDR3-1066 MHz, and the Setup Guide specifies DDR3-1333 MHz.
