Here is a vid of me unboxing my Dell Mini 1018 that arrived this morning
I've been fiddling with my new Dell Mini 1018 for the last couple of hours now, and have come up with a few first impressions of the new Mini on the block!
The design is nice, the shiny black lid and textured palmrest go well together. It is lacking a few ports, but 2 USB should still be enough, and I never really used a mic-in any way.
Screen is 1024 x 600 which is bog-standard as far as netbook resolutions go but is certainly acceptable.
Performance is not bad either, I was able to play 720 Youtube and it only a stuttered a bit - it was definitely watchable.
Trackpad is nice too but sometimes the click gets stuck on (drag lock?), there is probably a setting for this though.
Very good value for money, it's a shame there aren't any upgrade possibilities that don't involves opening the whole thing up, but I'm sure Dell will add more configurations in the future.
Obviously haven't had much a of time to drain the battery but Windows seems to predict just over 4 hours on a full charge.
It does however shiny with it's refreshed hardware, (N455 CPU, Better Trackpad) over the Mini 1012.
Full review coming soon!
