Yep, it's wrong. Corsair's own site says 204-pin.

If you're considering installing Ubuntu, I'd probably shrink your Windows partition before you start actually using the computer. Shrinking filesystems and partitions is usually troublefree, but any hiccups can be painful. So, shrinking the filesystem/partition before you care about anything on the drive is a good idea.

And make sure you have restore disks or a complete hard drive image before proceeding, better safe than sorry.

One note: Ideally, you'd put the small Ubuntu partition at the beginning of the disk (the fastest part of the disk), but it's probably gonna be easier to put it at the end.

When/if you decide to install Ubuntu, make sure your stuff is backed up. Backups are always a good idea, but doubly so when you're manipulating partition tables and bootloaders. If you decide against installing Ubuntu, just grow Windows back into the free space (backup before naturally).

As for 32bit vs 64bit, I have 64bit on my similar 1012. Everything seems to work well (you may have a different WiFi card). I can measure the 1.6GHz vs 1.66GHz clockspeed boost, but the speed boost is not noticeable in normal use. The faster SSD in my 1012 is noticeable.

Back up is an excellent suggestion. But I find gparted to be the best option for resizing your partition. ubuntu live comes with it.

Cheers.

Well I've never had a netbook before so... I cannot really compare it with anything.

Anyway, first thing I did was format and reinstall Windows 7 (Home Premium 32bits) to remove bloatware and McAffe (18 months free - NO THANKS).

Now I installed drivers, Tuneup (I always install it) and configuring it a little (removing unneded services, windows search, gadgets etc).

Now I'm updating via Windows Update. It does feels slower to me, but I'm running a Dell XPS M1530 (high-end machine... at its time) so the difference is noticable. But it's enough powerful for my needs (browsing, office).

The speaker is actually better than a stereo speaker I heard from another netbook (from my girlfriend's Phoenix netbook, never heard of that brand before :P). It is quite loud (you can still hear it coming from the right, obviously).

The touchpad is good enough, but I never use it. I use a logitech v450 nano and works perfectly. I installed all drivers from dell website without problems.

Battery: I ordered it with a 6-cell battery and windows says that with Wifi ON and normal/heavy use it gives around 5 hours (a little less). Enough for me.

Oh, and it takes 30seconds to get to the logon screen on Windows 7 and 45 seconds after inserting the password.

Now i'm looking for a sleeve, or bag to carry it on my backpack. Any suggestons?

Any other questions, please let me know. I will probably upgrade to 2gb ram in the following weeks.

Thanks!

Glad you are happy with your purchase, I agree the speaker is a bit of a double-edged sword, it's loud but at the same time so mono!

Any 10.1inch netbook case will do eBay has loads, I guess it's because they are cheap and can be home made easily. Or you could go for something a bit more sturdy, which is what I carry my 1018 around in

I've bought this one, and I'm very happy with it:
Neoprene 8 9 10" Laptop Netbook Case Bag Sleeve Orange - eBay (item 370424239973 end time Sep-23-10 11:45:07 PDT)

It's very tight case.
