Well, I did find out what information I need. I just need to know which country I have service in, who my carrier is and what my plan is so it can determine my APN. For my combination, AT&T uses isp.cingular. After that, the connection works well.
I have so far tried Fedora 15 and 16. Fedora 16 seemed a little unstable, but I am beginning to wonder if that was due to an overheating problem I have discovered while running Linux.
