Unhappy Lights out for my 1012 - advice? - 11-27-2011, 05:06 PM

Hi DellForums! My crash seems identical to another user's post.

When I power it up, the power light stays on, the hard drive light comes on briefly but never lights up again. The screen does not come on at all. I suspect it overheated and disabled a component of the motherboard.

Should I try to have the motherboard replaced on current 1012? Or just buy a new 1012 and swap in my current hard drive?

Any advice or viewpoint is appreciated!

Try to unmount the HDD than boot up the machine again.

I unmounted hdd and had same result.

I've read that some laptops can be stuck in hibernation mode. Any ideas are appreciated!

Fixed! I discovered the problem was simply that the 2 GB RAM memory stick failed. Another Mini 1012 has the same problem when I swapped in the deficient RAM stick. I replaced it, and it started up again fine.

Thanks for not being one of those "NVM GUYS I FIXED IT and I'm not leaving any explanation on how I resolved it!"
