I am running Fedora 15 and it seems to be pretty stable for my Mini 1012.

I dug around a bit and found this information. You can install powertop to get information on power consumption based on processes.

You can also install tuned and tuned-utils to set the laptop to a more battery friendly state:
tuned-adm profile laptop-battery-powersave

Since I have, my heat has gone down and my battery life has gone up. It still gets a little warm, but nowhere near what it was getting before.
