I agree its well worth it at that price to grab a back up. I hadn't thought of trying to keep the keyboard in, I saw the video on youtube and he took it out completely:

You didn't you mean? That would be awesome to not have to remove it form the motherboard...

Watch the video when he starts to remove the keyboard. You can "fold" the keyboard toward the palmrest, and that gives you enough room to upgrade the RAM. But the keyboard cable's not long enough for you to completely flip it over, that's why tikblang referenced holding it vertically with his chin.

The keyboard cable and connector are flimsy (like all laptops), so you need to be careful either way. But I've also been in and out of my 1012 a couple times without issue.

How hard is it to pop out the keyboard once you have the three screws out? I think I can get hubby to hold it for me while I do the ram upgrade. I think I can get him to anyway.

It's easy, stand your 1012 on its side like a v-shape, use something thin (like jeweler screwdriver) to push it out a bit from the bottom, not too much. Then using a thin plastic like your credit card, go around prying the other part out.

That was the video on youtube I followed up to 0:55

When I did this I had a pinkeye so I cannot see clearly and ended up keeping the keyboard connected.
