Default Dell Mini 1012 slow - 11-17-2010, 04:05 PM

Hello. I purchased a Dell Mini 1012. It's very slow. I removed programs I don't use. Ran the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag. Still slow. I upgraded it to Windows 7 Home Premium.

Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N450 @ 1.66 GHz 1.67GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 1.00 GB
32 bit operating system

McAfee Security Center

Any suggestions on how to speed up this Mini?

First, I will uninstall McAfee, then turn off aero (I am running aero and it is OK) 2gig memory will help (PC5300 OR 6400) If you really want an AV, You may try Norton netbook version, the NIS 2010 is OK as long as it is not scanning your system.

Your PC can be set for performance not for best appearance. Fast file searching on "C" can be put to off too.

Win7 64 is ok for casual use in fact I am running Visio 2010 premium with acceptable results.
