Unnecessary background: After a year, my faithful mini 10v had issues. First we had a virus which required a completely new hard drive and as of early hours of Monday morning, something caused the cover to melt from the inside. Dell replaced immediately of course.
As of 3 hours ago, I am the new owner of a refurb Dell mini 1012. Upon booting it up, I hated it immediately, for many reasons. Mostly, however, right now, is Windows 7 starter. I had xp on my old one and am now also running an HP with 7 pro.
My question: how will the system run with Windows 7 pro? I can do a custom install via usb. So I haven't taken the time to invest anything in the system yet, knowing I'll be starting from scratch.
My system: the basics - 1gb ram, 1.65ghz, 250gb hard disk (essentially if you buy it without adding anything to it).
Looked through the forum, haven't seen anything on going to pro, so I figured I'd ask and see if anyone else has and what they think.
In the meantime, I'll be browsing the forum more generally now to try and learn a little bit about this thing...the goal is to like it by Friday, crying won't make dell give me my old computer back (they don't seem to understand personal attachment to a computer).
