Default Full screen video ? - 10-15-2010, 10:51 PM

Searched post and did not see answer.

I have power DVD, Roxie player & wmp and when I switch to full screen in each player (I think) it leaves about 2 inches on each side of the screen without making it full screen. Can I fix this to go truly full screen? I would like to use windows media player but it seems to run (look) to be the worst.

This is of corse a dvd/video question. pardon the spelling. Thanks

Does it mean two black bars, one on the left and one on the right side of the screen?
If yes, it is because the screen ratio doesn't match with the film ratio. For example you have a 1366x768 (16:9) screen and a 720x576 (4:3) movie. In this case if you want a real full screen mode, the movie will be stretched (nice fat people).

As Kiki stated, black bars are normal when playing a video that's a different aspect ratio than the screen.

So, are you watching a TV show from a couple years ago? Or a newer widescreen show? A widescreen show should fit perfectly on the 1012's screen, but an old TV show won't fill the screen... unless you mangle the video, stretching and/or cropping it.

Some people may prefer a stretched and/or cropped picture, but I prefer a smaller "correct" picture.

When it's playing, go into "Video" and change the "Aspect Ratio" settings, see if you're happier with the picture then'

Black bars i think or more like a minimized look at least the sides because the screen seems to go top to bottom ok.
