The 11z and the HP you linked to are basically the same. They have different CPU speeds, hard drive sizes and such, but they're both built on the same Intel CULV platform. It's like two different cars, which are the same underneath. They have different stying, engines and options, but they're basically the same.

So, you'll have to judge which options/price are important to you.

When spending alot, I'd prefer a multi-core CPU, though. The dual-core option for that platform is usually called a Pentium Dual Core, should be an option on both models, but it might be overpriced.

The 1012 uses a "lesser" platform, slow CPU, very limited graphics performance, etc. On the plus side, it's cheaper and smaller than the others, and still offers enough performance for basic use.

If you need more clarification, feel free to ask followup questions.

well, asking that on a Dell forum is kind of a leading question, I happen to have both, a powerhouse 3.2ghz 17inch HP laptop which I love and the product has been flawless in the last 5 years I own it (I bought it new), and I also own a top of the line (all options) Dell Mini 10 which also has been flawless, both companies in my opinion have given me good customer service and cooperation when needed, I happened to choose the Dell Mini over the HP just becuase it had more of the options I was looking for in a Mini such as TV Tuner, HD screen and a reasonable price (I paid $425) for my Dell and close to $2000 (5 yrs ago) for my HP...I dont really care about money when I see what I want in a product, it really depends on what you want from your didnt really say in your post

Dell Mini 10 (Obsidian Black 1010), 2gb RAM, 1.66ghz 533mhz FSB (Z530) processor, A10 BIOS, 1 Terabyte (1000 GB) WD Scorpio Blue Hard Drive (5400rpm), Intel GMA 500 Integrated Graphics, TV Tuner, Bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR, 1.3mp Camera, 1366x768 HD Screen, Wireless 1510 b/g/n mini card, 6 cell (56WHr) Battery, 4gb SDHC, 64gb Flashdrive, Targus Netbook Chillpad, Targus Sport Case, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (500gb)/Windows 8.1 (500gb) (Dual Boot)
