Default How hot's yours? - 08-08-2010, 10:22 PM

Mine is running at 70 deg. centrigrade/celcius just browsing the web with Chrome.

Starting to get annoyed with this notebook now.

Is this normal? Whenever mine gets over 80 degrees it starts to behave erratically. Bizarre thing is that I think the heat is coming from the (useless) Crystal HD thing

Dell 1012: HD Screen, Broadcom Crystal, (upgraded) Dell 1520 Wireless, (upgraded) 2 Gb, (upgraded) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Those CPU temps do sound a bit high. I think mine only approaches/reaches 70 C under the heaviest use. 57C at the moment, virtually idle.

I noticed the 1012s with the Broadcom card seem to run MUCH hotter than the standard/base 1012s. I'm not sure why. It would be interesting to see if the 1012s with upgraded displays but not equipped with the Broadcom card run at an elevated temperature. I’ll post the question on the display upgrade page to see if there is any response.

I doubt the screen will make a noticeable difference, but you never know.
