Can someone explain why I would want to upgrade the BIOS in the 1012. I ask because the hardware in the 1012 seems pretty standard and doesn't seem to have changed since it's introduction. What fixes have been introduced by the new BIOS that would make me want to upgrade?

Dell usually lists changes on the update web page.

For my case, the "supposed" update on the dell site is A04 but when I try to flash it, it tells me that my BIOS is already updated or at a newer version. I saw a lot of people posting here about they upgraded to A0XXX (forgot about it), but it isn't present on the dell site! Where can I get it?

If it isn't on the Dell site, then just forget about it. Dell did have a BIOS posted that they then removed because it was buggy. Don't worry about it.

Ah yeah ok, I've heard a lot of bricking stories about that certain bios. Thanks for the information!

Even though this thread is over a month old, the general recommendation is not to update the bios or firmware on anything, unless there is a new functionality that you need, or the bios you have now doesn't work properly.
The same could be said for drivers as well, if the one you have now works satisfactorily, don't update unless it no longer works properly.

I too had the same problem as I discovered Dell shipped my mini with Bios Version A07 but the only update on the website is A04. I have no idea what is the problem with that.

so did anyone figure out whats going on? I mean what happened to A05-A06? and how do we have A07 it doesnt make sense!!!

I would check to see what the BIOS upgrade includes, if it doesnt apply to any hardware you have dont worry about it, my Mini 10 came with a10 and since have come out with an upgrade to a11, I checked and it only applies to the WWLAN which I dont even have, I am staying on a10, have had my Mini for over a year (got it last July '09) and have had zero (0) issues with it...no reason to upgrade, check what it includes for you, chances are if all is ok for you..you dont need it either.....
