Overclocking the 1012 - 06-08-2010, 12:12 AM
Sorry if I got your hopes up. Just wanted to start a thread on this so as things become possible for the 1012 we can try and keep it all in here.
Right now Vladimir is planning to support GMA 3150 in GMABooster, but no 3150 netbooks have even made it to market in the Ukraine, so it may be a while before we have GMABooster available to try and pump up the GMA ( Intel Graphics Media Accelerator ) speed and see if we can get anything more out of it.
Currently a no-go. We'll need to provide him with the MB/PC name, the chipset name and the clock generator name to even get started on that route. I don't know which clock generator they threw into the 1012 and haven't gone snooping around the MB to find it. Maybe someone knows off-hand.
I doubt we will see Dell provide a BIOS that actually lets you overclock anything on the 1012.
If anyone knows of any other tools or endeavours underway that may yield fruit for eventually oveclocking any part of the 1012 please comment. As in all things overclocking, even if you do manage to get a stable overclocked configuration it will consume more power and generate more heat, so tread carefully...
