Default Mini 1012 New-be - 04-18-2010, 01:06 PM

Three weeks ago my beloved XPS 1710 died from a video card failure, a replacement card is over $700.00 so I decided to use my Inspiron 9100 that was replaced by the XPS 1710 until I could order an Alienware M17X, the problem is Dell is dragging their feet on releasing the M17X with the ATI 5870's SLI DirectX 11 cards so I'm playing a waiting game. Well the I 9100 is not going to last long either so I needed to purchase something to hold me over, enter the Mini 1012. I spec'd it out as follows:

Mini 1012 Processor Intel® Atom® Processor N450 (1.66GHz, 512K L2 Cache)
Memory 1GB DDR2 SDRAM 1G1D800
LCD Panel 10.1" Widescreen Display (1366x768)
Video Card Crystal HD Broadcom Media Accelerator
Hard Drive 250G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Obsidian Black BLACK
Integrated Network Adapter Integrated 10/100 Network Card INTNIC
Sound SRS Audio Enhancement SRS
Wireless Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250
Battery 56WHr Lithium-Ion Battery (6-cell)
Bluetooth Bluetooth 2.1 module via USB I/F with EDR

Ok my first question: My XPS 1710 has 2 sticks of 2Gb Patriot 5300 667 MHz Cl5 memory, 1 of which will end up in the Mini 1012, from what I have read on here there is no reason to go to 800 MHz memory as it is under clocked to 667 MHz, is that correct??
