Default Broadcom and Netflix? - 04-09-2010, 05:14 AM

I just purchased a Mini 1012 with the broadcom crystal HD, I was wondering, will this be powerful enough to stream Netflix? Is someone willing to test it out for me, I can provide you with my login details, just PM me.

Netflix streaming uses Silverlight, right? I don't think that can take advantage of the Broadcom Crystal card... but I could be wrong.

Having a similar config to you I can confirm that Netflix streaming works* but I would have to second the notion that silverlight does not as yet** take advantage of the Crystal HD chipset.

For instance:
On the Netflix front there is pixelation not crystal clear HD. Still present but drastically improved when I plugged in that cat 6 cable directly into the 10/100 FIOS router instead of using its pathetic g mode wifi. Definitely watchable though.

See 2/26/10 post on this silverlight forum:

Edit 4/17/10 Silverlight 4 is out and marginally better. Worked with Netflix for my on XP32 and 7 Starter within IE/Chrome. Uninstall Silverlight 3 first. (and if trouble uninstall all Silverlights and revisit netflix to prompt for their silverlight install) Yes, Silverlight now supports Google Chrome.
