The machine seems like a really nice performer and for the price it is a steal. I just don't think it is that much better than the 1010 to warrant the change. Maybe later they will add something that makes it more appealing to me.

Now if I did not already own a 1010; I would probably buy the 1012 especially as I paid a good deal more for my 1010 than what the 1012 is selling for. Of course I have had almost a years use from the 1010 and you have to factor in that when comparing dollars and cents.

For the time being I am standing pat; besides I don't want to induce the rath of rrfranczak3 by changing to the 1012 from the 1010. fdalbor

Personally, I like the looks. My buddy has a 10v, and it looks slimmer off the bat, but it's almost an optical illusion. The 1012 is more "wedge" shaped to accomodate the 6 cell battery without any extra heft from the 3-cell. The 1010 looks truly bizarre with the 6-cell sticking out of the bottom.

Anyway, here's mine :-)

And as compared to my huge Dell Inspiron 1720:

I actually quite like the look of it. I was a little unsure at first but it has definitely grown on me.

Just waiting on the WWAN card option to be made available here in Australia and I'll be placing an order.

I saw a 1012 in the flesh again in John Lewis and I love it.

They had two varieties which seemed quite good value if you like red or green.

They were £299 which included the additional cost of the colour, plus it had the 250GB HDD. From the Dell website that would total £314.01.
