Hi everyone,

GOt my Mini 1012 a few days ago. Had a few issues with the wireless drivers for Linux, but got that resolved. The only thing left to fix is Bluetooth.

In BIOS, I can see that Bluetooth is enabled, but when I open Bluetooth Preferences, I get a message saying "No Bluetooth adapters present".

My 1012 came with Windows7 Starter installed, which I removed in favor of Linux. Googling for drivers is turning up very little. Does anyone have Bluetooth working on their 1012 with Ubuntu 9.1? I would really appreciate some advice on how to get it working.

I don't have a new 10 (1012), but I have a few questions/tips, which I hope will lead to the answer.

Did Bluetooth work in Windows?

What does "lsusb" (list USB devices) or "sudo lsusb -v" (verbose) say? I'm assuming the BT adapter is connected to the USB bus internally.

What does "hcitool dev" (BT Host Controller Interface tool) say? It should list the BT adapter.

Even if the drivers are missing, it should show up in the "lsusb" output. And I think the BIOS gives you the choice of BT enable/disable even if the BT receiver isn't there.

Furthermore, I think BT is an option on the new 10 (1012), but glancing at Dell, it doesn't seem to be available, yet. So, I don't think you have Bluetooth.

I'm guessing you're right, that BIOS is showing on/off, but there's no card. Guess I'll find out for sure when I take it apart to do a memory upgrade.

I much prefer Linux over OS X. I'm a Python/Django developer, and for my tastes, Linux is much easier to configure.

My bluetooth seems to be working fine out of the box. Running ubuntu AMD64 9.10, out of the box. Installed using wubi.

Unfortunately, the wireless card doesn't seem to work. But bluetooth seems fine.

Ubuntu 9.10 32bit both bluetooth and wlan working fine (out of the box), let me know if I can help. Bluetooth was an additional option when configuring and definitely available (germany).
