I just got a Mini 10. Can someone confirm that the 1G limit is a hard limit, and not just a matter of disassembling the unit and installing a new SODIMM module?

In other words: is a 2G upgrade possible with the Mini 10?

Not easily. In theory you could desolder and resolder new chips onto the board that has the memory and CPU. But in reality, no.

Right. This is a brand new Mini10 that I got on Wednesday. I haven't looked to see if there's been a hardware change. Another thread indicated there may be a CPU/daughter card involved here. Model number of the one I have says "PP19s". I haven't opened the thing to take a peek yet so I don't know if there's been a hardware change.

It would be really tough to replace the RAM the way it is so integral (sorry about the blurry picture):



Eventually, Dell may make a replacement Daughter Board available. The whole Daughter Board snaps in and out like a RAM module.

I won't be too disappointed either way. I got these on an unadvertised special for $121 apiece. Good computer to take to Mexico on scuba trips. Let's put it this way: I'd rather lose a $121 computer than a $2000 Macbook Pro

But if anyone opens one of the latest generation of these and finds that Dell has changed the architecture, let me know!

I see you posted some time back. I just bought one and my spec book says it can take 1 or 2 gb, however dell insists ...no dice. Mine is also pp19s. I have a z530 processor. If you have found out any thing new-let me know. Will try dedicating more hard drive to paging if I can. thx

I got one with 2GB Vista Basic but it comes with a free Widows 7 upgrade. Plus, if u google u can unlock that windows to be ultimate or business ect.

Plus the HD screen, 6 cell battery and Bluetooth

The Mini 10 takes pretty much any old SATA drive, not as specific as the Mini 9.
