Default Mini Refurb - 06-22-2009, 10:15 AM

Hi

Im new to this forum and to Dell Mini's.

I bought a refurb one Z530 with HD screen last week and after it arriving ive noticed it has a very annoying problme so before sending it back i was wondering if i could fix it myself.

Its problem is that sometimes (has happend 4 times in 3 days) when starting up it gets to the blue windows starting screen and then freezes with horizontal black lines across the screen. If you turn it off via the power on button and restart it its fine and can work fine for the duration of use.

If this doesnt happen ive notices, again only sometimes, it will freeze completely about 20mins after starting using it, no error message and with no particular program running.

It doesnt do it all the time as stated and did freeze when moved a few times.

Could it be a loose connection or software problem or should i just give up and send it back???

Please help!

thanks

Hi,

I had this problem on two computers at my work (not Dell Mini, but a Latitude D630 and a XPS1330)

Each time, the problem came from the nvidia graphic card and Dell change the motherboard on the two computers, which fixed the problem.

In my opinion, you will get in more and more trouble as time goes by, so send it back to Dell while you can.

Cheers,

Call Dell, they will remotely troubleshoot (Per their policy now) and then either send a tech to you, or have you send it back. I really like my little Mini 10, It goes with me everywhere.

Hey guys

well the laptop went back in the end after tech support couldnt remotely fix it, and now its back again and its still wrong!!

it is coming up with a PXE-e61 error and looking into it i dont think the new harddrive has been put in properly or has worked loose....this is prob due to the fact that they have sent it back without any screws holding the bottom in place and they have scratched the red case!

im getting really frustrated now....is it worth me puttin in the effort to get this resolved or should i give up and buy something else - please help!!!

Personally I would send it back, either for repair or money back your choice.

I bought a 10v last week, that was supposed to be refurbished. Found the issue with it too, go figure. At any rate they are sending me parts and a box to ship it back if we can't do it here. The outlet policy is to not allow you a refund.

I love my American Express card!!
