Default Mini 10 Ubuntu Iso/Img available? - 06-09-2009, 09:19 PM

A friend has the mini10, and says it is running sluggish with XP. I suggested maybe he try the Dell Ubuntu version but can't seem to find it anywhere. I went to dell and they don't list it in the available downloads. TPB only lists the mini9 version.

Can he use the mini9 version? I would think not since it has a different gpu.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also direction on how to install via USB thumbdrive would be great too. Thanks!

Since both Mini 10 and Mini 12 use GMA500, maybe this thread will help you:

There is a download link contained in the above thread, but I don't think it's for the Dell version of 8.04 (although I could very easily be wrong).

Instead of using the Dell 8.04 version, why not use the Netbook Remix version 9.04 which is much cleaner in my opinion. You can download it here.

Download Ubuntu Nebook Remix | Ubuntu

In reading other threads, i was under the impression that the GMA500 had a difficult time with traditional ubuntu distros (bad video drivers?)

The Mini 10 has real issues with Ubuntu but I understand newer graphics drivers are finally available. There are posts in the Ubuntu section, I believe, that give more details.
Here is some information on the 9.04 Dell ISO which includes a link to downloading the ISO.
