Upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04, help requested - 06-06-2009, 06:12 AM
Looking for anyone that can help. Just got my Mini 10v today. I have played with linux many times in virtual machine setups but this is my first system that I will be "using" it.
I attempted to follow the instructions listed here knowing that I first needed to upgrade to 8.10 and than 9.04
However the second step shows options that are not available for me.
The update tab on Software Sources shows only the Automatic Updates section, Release Upgrade is not available to configure.
I have otherwise run all available updates that the Update Manager could find
I would rather upgrade to 9.04 from the existing install, if to just experience the process.
Any help or suggestions is welcomed

There is no upgrade path for the special Dell/Ubuntu 8.04 "mash-up." You need to do a clean, fresh install if you want 9.04. Fortunately, it's easy--here's one of several good tutorials: Ubuntu on the Dell Mini 9: User Guides for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope
You will notice however the tutorial is for the Mini 9. The Mini 10v is brand new on the market, so there is not a lot of information out there yet. Hopefully it is basically the same install process as my Mini 9 and I'm not leading you astray.
May I ask what's wrong with 8.04? Why are you in a hurry to upgrade when you've only had the computer 1 day?
