Default 10v,VGA, and watchmovies.net - 05-30-2009, 02:36 AM

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here...I pretty much know nothing about netbooks and very little about computers all together.

I have a quick question. How exactly does VGA work? Can I do things like connect the netboook to my desktop and television screen and watch movies off of watch-movies.net (streaming video). Can I also watch youtube videos no problem? Am I getting it all wrong?

I would also like to know if it also has a webcam like the 10 does?

Thanks everyone for your time!

As long as your TV has a RGB 15 pin input.

There are digital output PCMCIA cards you could get for better quality. Easy to do.

Yes it has the webcam.

Thanks for the quick response!

I don't know if I have a RGB 15 pin input...but I do have an HDMI AV in...I don't know if that works the same or if there is something I can get to configure to make it play through there?

You are correct sir, no PCMCIA

So if you don't have VGA you can get whats called a scan line converter which takes 15pin VGA to composite (RCA) video connector. This is the lowest quality for any TV. Not sure if you can go from VGA to HDMI or DVI because VGA is analog.

Dang...lots of stuff to buy. Thinking maybe the 10 is a better buy than the 10v. Still not sure.

It's all about what you want to do with it. I have a HTPC for playing movies on my big screen, I got the 10V for portable work, I might watch a movie on a flight but I won't be connecting it to a TV.

Does the 10v have microsoft word? If not, is there some way to download it for free?
Finally, with the webcam there, do you need a microphone to talk through say scype, or is it already "built in"?

Sorry for all the questions, but this is all I really need to know before my purchase. Thank you so much!

Not sure about Word and no you can't download it for free. But a good way to get cheap software is to find a college student and get them to buy the education version for you, it is cheaper and works just the same. I bought Final Cut Studio Pro for $499, it retails for $1200

MIC is built in.
