I don't think you're really missing anything, re having HD on a ten inch screen. I do have a refurbished 10 mini, with the upgraded 1.6 Ghz chip and the 1510 wireless card, and bluetooth and a webcam (neither of the latter two that I presently use but might in the future) and the 160GB drive, and I think it is a perfectly fine machine and the non HD screen seems okay too. I paid about 300 for it and I thought that was a good price. I can't see HD being that big a deal on a screen that small.
But it does make me wonder why Dell would go to all that trouble to put ridiculous features on the 10 inch mini and not something basic that you would use, like 2GB memory. Right now the configuration I really want is a 64 or 128 SSD
hard drive, and the 2GB memory. I'd take the TV tuner and Hd display just for amusement's sake, and I'd get the six cell battery. To me part of having a really portable mini is having a SSD
. It's just that if I am going to drop 400-500 on a machine built from scratch (not refurbished), it ought to have minimal memory capabilities. And 1GB is just too limited out of the box, not to mention how useful it will be in the future to make me go to the trouble of having a machine configured with that drawback. I'd rather wait, but I am wondering what Dell can be thinking. I know I can't be the only one who is shaking their head at their choices.
