Default Mini 10 OEM Bluetooth Add-on - 05-18-2009, 07:12 AM

My friend's wife just purchased him a Dell Mini 10, and he was asking me about adding bluetooth to it. If ANYONE in Dell Mini 10 land has any advice about adding bluetooth, please, let me know.

Part numbers, phone number of someone to call at Dell to order the kit/part, maybe some handy pictures as fall as pulling apart the thing as well?

Anything...I'm dying here.

The part number Dell gave me for the Bluetooth kit (module and cable) for the Mini 10 is:
R859N

BUT, they have been out of stock so I can't promise it is the correct one. They already sent me the wrong one (RM948-wrong one) so getting the right one seems to be a crap shoot until someone here does in fact get the correct part installed.

Installing it requires taking a lot of the Mini apart. The service manual gives details. Not too hard if you take it slow.

An alternative, at least for now is one of those "world's smallest" bluetooth dongles. I use one and it works great. Only sticks out of the side about a quarter inch or so.

I went to a Wal Mart and found a bluetooth adapter for $20 / US. It's very tiny and barely sticks out of the side. It also works fine with the Win XP stack so you don't have to install drivers if you don't want to. I think the brand is iogear.

Has anyone ever gotten the part from Dell and gotten it to work properly?

I just ordered this part off of ebay:
2.0 Bluetooth module with cable for DELL Mini 10,10V,12 - eBay (item 160341511513 end time Jun-21-09 13:37:40 PDT)
it looks like exactly what we need to install bluetooth in the 10 - I will post an update here when I get it. Hoping it works...

Forgot to post the follow up - the seller actually shipped pretty quickly, and then I didn't have time to install it for a while. Anyway, as rm1515 said, it installs quickly and works perfectly...

I have a new Mini 1012 and want to add the bluetooth module. The Ebay listing has expired. Can you please re-post the model number or the EBay store of the seller?

I ordered one today:
R859N Dell R859N Service Kit, Bouetooth
module With Cable, 1010
$38.99
softarcade.net
Hope it works....

THIS WAS THE WRONG PART. THE CORRECT PART FOR THE 1012 IS A 365 BLUETOOTH MODULE. ORDER BY PHONE FROM PC PARTS (714)-900-3915.
