I tried the Asus, HP mini and the mini 9. The 10v's keyboard ranks pretty high and definitely easier to type on than the mini 9. Actually feels pretty natural...almost the same typing speed and same number of errors. Losing the vertical pixels is tough, but using resolution scaling on OS X, I can overcome those issues.

Talking Further confusion - 06-08-2009, 05:50 AM

Thanks Tom!!! A friend of mine sent me this link and info via email. He said that is selling a HP 2140 system, with a free case and a free upgrade of 1GB RAM, for $299 after a $70 mail-in rebate.

The system has an Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz, 512KB L2, 2GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 160GB SATA HDD, 10.1" Illumi-Lite LED SD, VGA Camera, Intel GMA 950 (1024x576), Gigabit NIC, 802.11a/b/g draft-n, Bluetooth 2.0, Windows XP Home Edition, all for $300.

This looks very very tempting. I am just waiting for June 10 to see whether HP's new 110 series is VFM (for me ). Otherwise it is either the HP 2140 or the Dell 10v.

ps: The HP promo is in effect till June 30th. Here is the link that he sent me.

EDIT: Video Review

Unhappy No real info on 2 GB Models - 06-11-2009, 09:29 PM

Just did an online pre-sales chat with Dell employee:

"Unfortunately we have no information on when manufacturing will be able to get the motherboard to 2GB memory. But must be mid this year."

Not very helpful.

Hi everyone, what about the mini 10v built quality (plastic lid, case, keyboard etc) versus mini 10? Is it still fanless? I like the magnesium case of mini 10 but i don't like (weird, huh?) its HD display (the only available here) because I want to buy it for a little boy and 1366x768 is just too much for his eyes. Do you think that mini 10V it's childproof enough?
