Default No audio after installing XP - 05-10-2009, 03:06 PM

hi there,

after a week of trying to get used to the unresponsive vista i eventually decided to move on (backward : P) to XP. everything works much better now except the system doesn't seem to accept the driver downloaded from dell. i installed the software already but it still doesn't work and there is still an unknown pci device left in hardward list.

can anyone pls suggest what needs to be done? i kinda need it to work because my gf and i live in different countries and we usually use video call to chat.

thanks guys!!

I assume you're talking about a Mini 10.
Did you install all the drivers (starting with the chipset drivers) including the Realtek Audio drivers (R206986.EXE)?
If the audio drivers won't install, you'll usually know right away with an error message.

If all else fails, you could (try to) request the SRCDs from Dell and set it back up just as it left the factory. Here's more on SRCDs.
