Actually the Engadget article does link back to this thread. Engadget just has a tendency to post the links in "Read" section instead of the body of the post, which can make them easy to miss.

what I would like to see,is a battery that has a "detatchable" extended battery. Basically the extra cells that stick out of the back could snap on and off,so you could have the best of both worlds. Small and flush battery for short periods, and have the bigger battery for longer periods of time.

Of course,no one thinks of these things...

Dell does, in fact, make both battery slices and media slices for many of their laptops. They snap on the bottom like these:

AND, at the CES, Dell announced an eventual DVD slice for the Mini 10

Who knows, they may have a battery slice in the works.

Hrm how far does the screen hinge open with the extended battery? Do you lose some opening angle because the battery blocks the hinge from opening completely?

Does anyone know if the battery will be available by itself? I'm buying the new 10V and want both batteries and I'm not sure if I should order the extended now and the standard later or the other way round.

I ordered the 6 cell with the unit as it's only $30 more, I'll get the less protuding battery at some point later.

My mini 10 also has the HD screen as well and I must say that its really sharp. I'm in the process of loaded windows 7 on it.
Thanks for the images.... just wondering if the battery sticking out makes it too bulky to fit into a snug carrying case? has anyone tried this? THX

Almost ordered it for the Mini 10v I ordered. I'm still struggling with whether or not I should have. At the moment, I think that I am content without it, but we'll see.
