Default Intel X-25 M - 03-19-2009, 11:40 PM

Will this ssd fit the mini 10. I realize many would say it is overkill, but with this ssd and the hd (1376 x 780) version screen resolution with 2gb of ram, this will be a VERY capable computer.

Yes it will fit, but your processor (Atom Z530) and northbridge (GMA-500) will still be your bottleneck...

The mini10 is using standardized 2.5" SATA laptop hdd/ssd's.

No. The Mini-10 is using an industry standard 2.5" SATA hdd. Rather than being restricted to a very specialized ssd like the Mini 9 - with the Mini 10 the hdd/ssd world is your oyster!

But RunCore have a 2.5" SATA SSD in its product line, who will try to check its size compatibility with Dell Mini 10? You can read about it on http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/

Dell Inspiron Mini 12, 1.6 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, 3 cell battery, MS Windows Vista.
Want to install internal WWAN modem, replace HDD with SSD or CompactFlash.
P.S. English it is not my native language, so, please, excuse me for its poor quality.

Check out this article and the update from March 30:
http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3531

The article is lengthy at 31 pages but really worth reading. I think I'm going to try an OCZ Vertex.

After having read the article myself, I too decided to go for an OCZ Vertex (for my 10v). I went for the 30 GB model first, but then had second thoughts and exchanged it for a 60 GB.

I have no connection with OCZ whatsoever, but their support forum just has to be one of the best in the business... latest firmware updates, and all the help you could wish for in how to apply them etc.

Hope I am not treading on anyone's toes here!

I don't see any treading taking place - it's nice to hear about vendors with good service/easy to get to info (I'm typing this just after my 5th email back from dell service trying to get two defective keyboards replaced. Gurg.)
