Default What OS 1010 on 1gig Spec? - 07-18-2011, 10:08 PM

After hours of reading, numerous fresh formats and installs, with various OS. I feel I have a simple answer.....
*Jolicloud or Ubuntu 10.04*

Ubuntu 11.04 had screen resolution issues, i tried all the fixes, drivers etc. (IF anyone has cracked this issue, pls pls create a thread and describe your process in laymenís terms)

Ive run Jolicloud as an OS for circa 10 months, the dev guys just keep making things sweeter and sweeter. All very quickly too. Even reply to tech question on the day!....however, the reason i started to play around with other OS's was that i was getting bored of the JC interface. i even put cairoDock on. Ive read its running on Ubuntu 10.10, however on the official website on version 10.10 is not listed 10.04 was.(yesterday)

Everything that needed to work, worked. Screen resolution, GMA500 chips set, my levelONe usb network card (which I highly recommend) etc etc etc.

But honestly I think we need to up the Ram to the 2gig max. Then retry Ububtu 10.10 and 11.04.

Yikes. I've had my 1010 for a while now without really using it much. I had read rrfranczak3's posts back when I received it and kind of gave up; I think one of your last posts in a 2009 "Mini1010 2Gb upgrade thread" was $554 or something. Just opened it up Monday and installed Win7Pro on it, and NATURALLY I began following up. Any word on what this company in CA is?

*edit* How is your Win7Ultimate running?

Win 7 Ultimate runs great and I have Aero turned on, the speed isnt bad taking in to consideration it is a Mini, I would imagine when I upgrade to the 2gb the speed should be better also.....if you want details on the CA based company send me a PM, the 2gb board w/the z530 processor goes for $160 or so shipped

rrfranczak3, I cannot send PMs yet either. Would you be able to post the company's info?
