So, I picked up a 1010 basket case and am trying to get it working. It would not power up, but I found a blown Zener diode on the mobo and replaced it. I now get a steady LED when a battery is in and AC adapter plugged in, but it won't power up.
I unplugged the charger and noticed now I get LED only when holding down the power button but still doesn't POST.
I did find that the thing wouldn't power on at all unless the keyboard is plugged in too. The USB/SIM cable is missing, and now I'm wondering if I need that plugged in as well before it will power up.
Does anyone know if a Mini 1010 will power up without the USB/SIM cable plugged in? I'd really like to know before I go troubleshooting the mobo.
If a kind soul wanted to help, you could just unscrew and lift the keyboard, then unplug the cable right next to where the power switch cable plugs into the mobo and see if it still turns on.
